Product Description
An unforgettable illustration of a transformed new life through the resurrection of Jesus. 'If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.' 2 Cor 5:17
Butterflies are especially symbolic of Christ's death and resurrection. The chrysalis is symbolic of the tomb or grave. The adult butterfly is symbolic of resurrection, life and hope.
An exclusive gospel magic lesson to Mission Magic. Perfect for any school assembly, church service, youth group or community event. Use at Easter, at Harvest and through out the year when the topic is new life.
THE EFFECT
The performer shows a picture of his pet caterpillar. It's wrapped (cocooned) in tissue paper and placed inside a gardening book. When it's taken out and unwrapped the caterpillar has gone. When the gardening book is next opened 5 wind up butterflies fly out!
3 of the 5 butterflies that flutter out of your gardening book - to everyone's surprise
GOSPEL PRESENTATION
You'll have a lot of fun presenting this.
You start by asking the audience a question. 'What pets do you have?' You reveal that you used to have a pet caterpillar. You show a photo. A lovable but frustrating pet. He was always hungry. You hold up an apple. 'Can you see the hole he made in it.' It's the same with your slice of dry toast and your packet of crisps. 'Can you see the hole in it!' Finally he even ate through your Bible. You point to the 'hole' on the cover. 'I know it's a holy book but this is ridiculous.'
Before and After - Where has that caterpillar gone!
You explain that one night some thing very odd happened. Your caterpillar went to sleep as normal. You take the picture of your caterpillar and wrap it in white tissue paper. Then you slip it into your gardening book. 'He likes something to read before he goes to bed. In the morning I went to wake him and he had vanished!' You take out the picture and unwrap it. The caterpillar has vanished from the picture.
'But then I remembered the Easter story. The disciples found the tomb empty. Jesus' body was missing. He had vanished. But it hadn't been stolen. Jesus had raised from the dead. He had been physically transformed. In fact Mary when she first saw Jesus didn't recognise him. Just like when I next saw my caterpillar. I didn't recognise him at first because he had changed into a butterfly. And at this moment you open your gardening book and 5 wind up butterflies fly out into the air.
'The transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly is a natural marvel. The resurrection of Jesus is super-natural miracle. Bring the colour, joy and new transforming life of Christ into your life this Easter.'
PRESENTATION IDEAS
For this presentation you'll need a large hard backed gardening book. You probably have one in your book case. If not your local charity shop will have a second and one for a couple of pounds.
It's fun to show an apple and a piece of dry toast with a hole in. Easy to do with a knife. For the bag of crisps - or packet of biscuits just draw a black hole on with a black marker. To make a hole on your bible just stick a cut out black circle on with a little bit of BluTac.
- Easy-to-do magic. Everything is set up before hand leaving you to enjoy telling your story
- Great fun - kids love the familiar story of the hungry caterpillar.
- Delightful finale. No one expects the room to be filled with flying butterflies.
You can use this effect through out the year whenever the topic is new life. Hide one butterfly to your Bible to give everyone a surprise when you next open it!
