THE EFFECT
The Performer picks up 7 Jumbo-sized letters and holds up the letter U 'I like all 25 letters in the alphabet, but I only love U!' Two volunteers hold up a length of white rope, so the Performer can clip letters onto it one-by-one as he retells the Easter story.
- E - is for the Excitement of the crowds, as Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey.
- A - is for the Anger of the Jewish authorities, who plotted to kill him.
- S - reminds us of the Last Supper, where Jesus broke bread and shared wine with his disciples.
- T - is for the Tragedy of Jesus arrest and trial. A good man unfairly treated and put to death.
- E - is for the End. His disciples thought his death ended everything. Just another dead prophet.
- R - stands for Resurrection - the ultimate twist in the tale. Jesus rises from the dead! A new beginning.
'Jesus was more than a good teacher. There's one word to describe him. Can guess what it is?' One by one, four cards are unclipped and turned around, finally spelling SAVIOR. 'Jesus is our Saviour. The one who saves us from danger and destruction.'
'But I spell SAVIOUR a U. I have one right here.' The Performer shows a picture of a sheep. 'A ewe!' Once the laughter! dies down, the card is flipped over to reveal the letter U. 'This letter reminds us that Jesus died for U & Me!'
'Let's thank God for all he has done.' The Performer unclips the letter A. 'The word I want to use starts with this letter. Can anyone guess it?' The card is turned over revealing 'Alleluia'. The Performer encourages everyone to shouts this out loudly. The perfect way to end an Easter message.
3 PRESENTATIONS IN 1
Use the same cards for two very different presentations by Paul Morley.
Caught Red Handed - Paul's presentation cleverly combines the letters with the colours on each jumbo cards. 'No-one is perfect. The letter E on the green background reminds us that we can be green with Envy. The letter A on the red background tells us that we can become red with Anger.'
Monday Morning Letters - A unique retell the events immediately after Jesus' resurrection. 'E is for the excitement of the women who discovered the tomb empty. A is for the astonishment of the Disciples when they heards Jesus' body was missing.'
