Four of your best-trained silk hankies are knotted onto a thin wire coat hanger. A spectator calls out one the four colours, and that silk immediately obeys, magically untying itself and falling to the floor! You repeat this with the three other silks.
ANY one of the silks can be named. No forces. No equivocation. The colours can be called out in any order. Nothing is prearranged Baffling and delightful magic, with an ingenious method.

EFFECT
Four silk scarves are displayed, each is tied to a thin wire coat hanger. The magician holds the hanger at the tips of his fingers. A spectator is asked to call out any coloured scarf. As each coloured scarf is called out, it mysteriously unties itself and falls to the floor! It looks like it has been untied by an invisible hand. This is done without the spectator seeing any movement done by the magician.
PERFORMANCE IDEAS
A nice warm-up trick. Set this up with three silks. First, have all the kids raise one finger in the air and wiggle it at the Red silk. The yellow one unties and falls off! Let's try again. Now have all the kids wiggle all five digits at the Red silk. Oh Oh! It's the green one that falls off. Then have the kids wiggle all ten digits at the Red silk and say the magic words! The red silk falls off. Hurrah! They give themselves applause for finally getting it right, and now everyone has just had the opportunity to take part in the show.
Competiton - Four volunteers are given four straws. Whoever blows their silk off the hanger first gets the prize. Of course, it's the birthday child who always wins!
GOSPEL IDEAS
Ask the Hanger! Make any message more memorably by including a multiple-choice question. There are four different answers, one for each silk. Tension builds as one-by-one three silks fall to the floor, leaving one silk with the correct answer. Use two silks for a Yes / No question.
Traffic Lights - Your bible character is facing a difficult choice and needs God's guidance. Will it be Green for Yes, Yellow for Wait or Red for No. The colours can also mean Green for Safety and Red for Danger, or Green for GO and Red for STOP!
