Effect
The magician asks a spectator if he can use the water bottle they’ve been drinking from. Emptying out the contents, the cap is screwed back on before asking for the loan of a mobile phone.
He holds the phone close to the bottle and – WHAM – the phone is now unmistakably inside the bottle! Jaws will hit the floor.
Another spectator can even ring the phone and it starts vibrating and ringing whilst in the bottle.
Taking a knife, the bottle is cut open and the phone returned to it’s rightful owner.
Remember, all objects are borrowed! No trick phones or pre-prepared bottles. Easy to do and a real reputation maker.

This is so strong, you don’t need to do much else…the magic sells itself! It’s very easy, so you can focus on how you deliver the effect.

You could talk about connection, how we are all connected by technology such as smartphones (ask to borrow one at this point) With a smartphone, we can be connected to the internet, to Wi-Fi, to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. We can be connected socially to each other, but sometimes technology takes over and we can lose our connection with God.
In favour of the latest tech, and what our friends think of us on social media, we might ‘bottle it’ (show borrowed water bottle) when it comes to displaying our faith.
We may need to re-assess our priorities, put our phones down for a while and spend some of that time connecting with God instead. That’s when amazing things can happen! (Pass phone magically into bottle) That was just a trick though, but God can work miracles!
We can live without our phones, but we can’t live life to the full without Jesus…the water of life (point to water bottle) So don’t bottle up your faith, connect with God and see what miracles He can create in your life!
