THE EFFECT
The magician displays a brass tube, about ten inches in length and a small brass block which easily fits into it. A spectator is asked to drop the block into the top of the tube and catch it at the bottom with the same hand. A game of speed and co-ordination.
The magician explains that he will make the task easier by removing gravity's pull inside the tube. Incredibly this time, the block can be seen floating slowly through the tube! In fact, the spectator's hand is waiting for the block to drop into it.
Finally, the magician restores gravity to the tube. The block is dropped again and shoots through the tube.

PRESENTATIONAL IDEAS
There are many different ways to present this wonderful effect. Here are some to get you started:
- Game of Splat the Rat (Animal Friendly) - A fun game with one or more volunteers, where the winner is the one who catches the falling block most times in a row. Surprisingly the magician seems to win every time. But the kids are quick to point out that he's cheating - the block falling slower on his go! A riot of fun with the kids!
- Graviton Detector - Your audience assistant discovers a spot on stage where gravity is lower. When the mat is lifted a Mars Bar is discovered underneath - after all gravity is lower on Mars!
