Product Description
In the right hands, these Chinese Sticks work their magic on any audience. This is charming magic, where the bafflement and comedy builds until everyone, including you, are utterly baffled at how the tassels are connected.
If you don't already know this trick, this is what the audience sees. When the magician pulls the tassel on one wand, the other tassel rises up, even then the wands are separate, first at one end and then at both. Add your own personality to the presentation and it's guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.
These are the best quality Chinese Sticks we've seen. The wands are made by Difatta Magic to a professional standard. They work smoothly and silently and, with a little care, last for many many years. A great investment.
Simple to do. If you can pull on a tassel, you can do this trick. It's all in the presentation (which we give). With a little practice, you have a gem of a routine. Recommended for any performer or church, school and youth worker looking for something unique for their next show or message.
Watch Fred Kaps work his magic and charm with the Chinese Sticks below.
THE EFFECT
Two wands are held in one hand, each with a tassel hanging from the end. Pulling down on the short tassel makes the long tassel rises. 'As you can see they're connect. One cord running through this end of the wands.' But when the ends of the wands are moved apart, there's no cord running between the two. 'Oh!' Pull down one tassel and the other rises. 'That's odd.'
The audience shouts out that the wands are connected at the end held in your hand. 'Of course.' But when the wands are completely separated, there is no connecting cord. 'That's a surprise!' And yet, even with the wands clearly separated, pulling on the short tassel of one STILL makes the long tassel on the other become shorter! 'Must be magic!'
The fuller routine uses the buttons on the top of the wands for more baffling fun.
PRESENTATION
The impact of this effect is all in the presentation. Present it as a puzzle that baffles you as much as the audience. Take your time giving an explanation 'The cord clearly runs from this tassel, through these two ends and down to this tassel,' only to separate the ends and prove yourself wrong.
TOP TIPS
Most performers we've seen work the sticks too fast. They pull on the short tassel with a jerk, and other tassel flies up. The real secret is to slowly pull the short tassel down, as you watch the long long tassel rise up. Avoid raising the sticks at the front. Instead, lower the sticks at the back, with the front end as the pivot. Learn the critical balance point of the wands and use the least amount of tilt. It looks so much better, and your audience have the time to appreciate the effect.
GOSPEL IDEAS
'Out sins have separated us from God.' (Isaiah 59:2). Chinese Sticks are an excellent way to illustrate how sin has cut the connection between us and God, and how Jesus restored it through the cross.
'These tassels are connected to each, just like Adam and Eve were connected to God.' (Show by pulling on the tassel). 'But when they sinned' (separate the wands) the connection between people and God was severed. 'But through Jesus we can be reconnected to God. It's an invisible spiritual connection but still very real.' (Pull on the tassels to show how they are still linked).
