GOSPEL IDEAS
The Eye of the Needle - This is a good illusion to illustrate how it's impossible to get into heaven on our own merits, even if you're rich and influential. Jesus said "It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God." When the disciples heard this, they were astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus replied, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matt 19:24-26
With God it's Possible - Somethings are just impossible. It's impossible for this ball to pass through this tube. And there are things we find impossible to do in our own strength. Like forgiving someone who's badly hurt us, or overcoming an addiction. But with God all things are possible.
PRESENTATIONAL IDEAS
Place the ball on top of the tube and ask everyone gathered round to imagine that the ball is getting smaller. The ball slowly sinks into the tube. Now ask them to imagine that the ball is getting larger, and ball starts to rise up.
Cover the tube with a silk hanky and place the ball on top. Have someone place their finger on top of the ball and ask them to push gently. The ball starts to sink down into the hanky and into the tube.
A stunning bit of close up magic that is very easy-to-do.
