The Incredible Block Penetration brings a classic stage effect onto a table top and into your own show! At 12 inches tall this is an impressive prop, well made and looks great on display in your magic den and in your show.
EFFECT
The performer shows the audience a large square wooden tower with three windows front and back. Two solid metal plates are examined and slid into the slots on the side of the tower, dividing it into three sections. A metal die is dropped into the top of the tube. It can be seen to rest on the upper metal plate through the window in the sides. With a tap of your finger (a very magic finger!) the die SLOWLY and VISIBLY penetrates the metal plate, coming rest on the second plate. Can the audience believe their eyes? Let's see it again. Another tap and the die passes through the second plate! WOW. That really did happen. The plates are removed, the tower lifted and the solid die shown to the audience. Tah Dah!
That's TWO impossible penetrations. The tower and the plates can be examined afterwards.
PRESENTATION
Following the pattern of the great magicians of stage such as Thurston and Kellar you can introduce this as a demonstration of some little known scientific effect - say the elasticity of metal - or to bring it up to date of Quantum Mechanics. The gaps between atoms is so large that the idea of a solid material is really an illusion.
This really is an effect where you can go to town on your presentation.
