EFFECT
The performer pops the giant 12cm coin into one side of the box and closes both doors. He 'unknowingly' tips the box and the coin is seen to roll to the other side. He opens the upper door and claims the giant coin has been stolen! Everyone shouts to open the other door. He 'unknowingly' tips the box, the coin rolls back and he opens the other door - no coin! Repeat until the kids are fit to burst. The performer finally understands what the audience is saying and opens both doors. The coin really has really disappeared! The performer turns around as he looks for the missing coin and there it is - stuck to his back! Comedy gold!
GOSPEL PRESENTATION
Use this to illustrate any biblical story connected with coins. For example the Parable of the Lost Coin or the Parable of the Talents. Have great fun as the audience helps you find the lost coin!
Large 12cm coins and a long 34cm safe.
GENERAL PRESENTATION
The magician explains he has brought his life savings with him. Opening up the safe, he removes a LARGE shining coin. Being a magician, the safe also has a built-in safety feature. If anybody tries to pinch the money, it will instantly vanish. The coin goes back in the safe, the doors are closed and the magic words uttered. Tilting the safe, one door is opened – and the coin is gone! But the audience heard it slide to the other side and saw it slide across, because gap between the doors.
The magician offers to bring it back again, and tilts the safe. Another clunk, another peek between the doors and the audience are quick to point out he just tipped it!
After more byplay, the magician eventually asks if they want to see both doors open at the same time. Both doors are opened, the money is gone and the economy damaged quicker than you can say Brexit!
For a finale, the coin reappears anywhere you like – in a top hat, in your pocket or, for more screaming and shouting, stuck to your back (and of course you don’t see it at first!) You could even secretly take the duplicate coin from your pocket, and then appear to magically produce it behind someone’s ear!
BONUS IDEAS
You don’t have to use the coin supplied, you can use anything that fits. You could try a CD, or how about a large chocolate coin (often available in Starbucks) which you could then give away at the end of the trick (check for nut allergies first)
You could also print any image and stick it on the coin or on disc the same size, making it fully customisable. It could be a cookie, a face, a planet, a squashed tomato…anything you can think of!
