Product Description
Add a little flower-power to your shows with this classic comedy gag!
The wilting flower is one of those beloved bits of business used by children’s entertainers, clowns and magicians all over the world. Why? Because it works! It’s the ‘magician in trouble’ scenario that gets lots of laughs and audience interaction, a perfect warm-up to let your audience know that it’s okay to join in!
The magician is seen holding a tall bright yellow sunflower and, when he’s not looking, the stem wilts and droops - falling over. It sounds simple, but this is the kind of gag that gets children screaming and shouting, and of course it takes you a while to notice anything is wrong! The stem is straightened again and remains rigid for a few seconds, before falling over and hitting the magician on the head! A tweak of the stem and the flower is fixed, then you can repeat the gag a few times before having the children help to fix it once and for all.
At 1 metre long and professional quality, this is ideal to use on any stage or at any assembly, service or party.
Presentation Ideas:
We recommend using the ‘they look, you don’t see’ approach with this prop, mentioned above. You can repeat the gag up to three times (three is the magic number here, the classic ‘rule of three’ as it should get funnier each time!)
Maybe it needs watering? Produce water magically from a child's elbow using a Comedy Funnel, or from a Lota Vase or Lota Bowl (all sold separately) or simply dress a helper up as a gardener (straw hat, gardening gloves and so on) and have them mime tipping a watering can towards the flower.
Gospel Ideas:
This is a great prop for a variety of Gospel applications, especially because the sunflower is a symbol of faith. Here are a few suggestions...
- 'Sun' of God - You can talk about how sunflowers follow the sun in order to grow, and we should follow the Son (of God) to grow in our daily lives. You can demonstrate what happens if we don't follow Jesus, we may feel lifeless and weak without God on our side. He lifts us up and helps us thrive.
- Spiritual Growth - What do we need to grow our faith? A plant needs a seed, light, water and energy to grow.
- Parable of the Sower - The plant is a great way to visually tell this famous parable. Full routine included
- BIG, Bright and colourful
- 101 different presentations possible
